Exterior Stucco Painting — Santa Monica

Project Overview

A Santa Monica homeowner reached out after noticing recurring hairline cracks across the stucco exterior and visible chalking on the south-facing wall from years of direct sun exposure. The scope included full stucco crack repair, texture matching, and a complete elastomeric recoat of the home's exterior.

Stucco Repair Process

We mapped every visible crack across the four elevations, most concentrated around window corners and a section near the foundation where minor settling had occurred. Cracks were routed out, filled with an elastomeric patching compound, and textured to match the home's existing knockdown finish before any painting began.

Paint Selection

Given the home's proximity to the ocean and history of recurring cracking, we recommended an elastomeric coating over standard acrylic exterior paint. Elastomeric coatings stay flexible after curing, allowing them to move slightly with minor stucco settling instead of cracking again along the same lines.

Before & After

Before: visible network of hairline cracks across three sides of the home, chalky and faded finish on the sun-exposed south wall, and prior patch repairs that hadn't been textured to match. After: a uniform, crack-free stucco finish with matched texture at every repair, and a full-color exterior recoat that restored consistent coverage across all elevations.
