Venetian Plaster Installation in Los Angeles

Venetian plaster is a lime-based plaster applied in thin, hand-troweled layers and burnished to a soft sheen, giving walls a depth and movement that paint can't replicate. It's one of the most requested decorative finishes we install across Los Angeles.

Because it's a hand-applied craft finish, the result varies with the applicator's technique — we sample the finish on your actual wall before committing to a full room so you know exactly what you're getting.

A protective wax topcoat is available for added depth and durability.

New construction or renovation

Applied over properly prepped drywall or plaster in both new builds and remodels.

Our Venetian Plaster Process

  1. Sample and consultation — We apply small on-wall samples in your space so you can see the actual sheen and color under your lighting.
  2. Surface preparation — Walls are primed and, if needed, skim-coated smooth to give the plaster a clean base.
  3. Layered application — Plaster is applied in multiple thin coats, each troweled and partially burnished before the next.
  4. Final polish and sealing — The final layer is burnished to the desired sheen and sealed with wax if selected.

Frequently Asked Questions

How is Venetian plaster different from paint?

It's a genuine plaster material applied in layers and burnished by hand, giving real texture and depth, versus paint's flat, uniform surface.

How long does a Venetian plaster room take?

Because of the multiple layers and drying time between coats, plan on several days for a full room, longer than a standard paint job.

Can it be repaired if damaged?

Yes, though repairs require blending new plaster into the existing finish by hand — not a simple touch-up like flat paint.
